Raahein started project Sheela in the beginning of 2019. The aim was to help underprivileged people to get benefits and services available for them under various schemes and programmes. For this purpose, Raahein did an extensive survey in few slums of Delhi to find out the kind of services/ benefits majorly required by the people living there. The main requirements of the residents as told by them were: access to free/ subsidised treatment in private/ government hospitals and de-addiction centres, getting aids and appliances and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, making of adhaar/ration card as well as income and disability certificates, admission to schools and facility for private tuitions and avenues for employment/self employment. Raahein then made a catalogue of service givers through personal visits and meetings. Once this was done, Raahein was successful in helping some from the target group to avail these services / benefits. This is an ongoing activity where new service givers and beneficiaries are constantly added. Making case histories of every beneficiary along with regular updates is being done.

Mehak is a young girl who lives in Kusumpur Pahari, a slum in South Delhi. She is mentally challenged. Raahein helped her to get a disability certificate which enabled her to get admission in a nearby school.

Poonam is a young girl from Kusumpur Pahari who led a normal life till her schooling years. She then developed problems in walking which has progressively become worse. Raahein team took her for a detailed check up to explore the possibility of treatment. When doctors said that recovery is not possible, Raahein got her a wheel chair. This has made it possible for her to go to the local school to help small children.

Aryan, a child with severe hearing impairment was taken for assessment and later for therapy sessions. Raahein was able to get him admitted to Akshay Pratishthan, a regular school where he is also learning sign language. The school provides free transport, uniform , books and tuitions.
